First Rolex
Looking to make a jump from my omega seamaster to a rolex.
I can't quite afford the submariner I want but I think an Air king would suit me just fine, should I save or buy? |

It all depends....do you want the instant gratification of just buying the Rolex you can afford or do you wait, save up the money and buy the one you want?

Buy what you like the first time, otherwise you will probably flip for it later.

Buy what you really want, because that's what you have to live with, don't settle for anything less, check out the for sale section and you may be surprised

Cheers guys, flipping? Unsure as to the definition.
Pre-rolex I've mostly been messing with old Rotary watches and their straps and movements. I inherited the omega from my grandfather and I'm looking at adding a rolex to the mix. I've been keep my eyes peeled on here for a couple of days before posting and the wealth of knowledge here is unprecedented. Looking forward to learning. |

Definitely save for the one that you want, especially since you have a solid watch already to keep your wrist company while you save!

Don't get an AirKing if you're settling. The AK is a watch you buy because you want one, not to fill a gap.

Truer words were never spoken....that's exactly what I did. I settled for the black Sub-C when I really wanted the green one, because that is what I could afford at the time. Not that the black one wasn't a nice watch, I just really wanted the green one. I recently flipped my LNC for a LVC and couldn't be happier.

Credit card. Some very good deals in the UK. Zero percent on purchases for a year. Just pay it off in time.

my oyster precision wasn't at the top of my list when I got it, but it's so darn comfy, matches everything I wear, and under the radar and still brings a smile to my face every time I see it

I say save for the one you really want. Don't buy a Rolex just to buy a Rolex.

A black Seamaster was my first watch, and then I bought a black Sub. I never wore the Seamaster after that. I love the Seamaster and wanted to wear it more, but I just didn't. My advice if you want the Sub is to get a different color as your Seamaster. For sure wait to get the Sub, otherwise you will end up with a Seamaster, an Air King, and a Sub.

I felt the same way; I was looking at a Sub initially but I made the stretch and got a Daytona. I agree with waiting a bit if you really want a Sub. Funny thing is, I am now looking into getting an LV Sub now to complement my Daytona!

Wait and save if nessessary, but get your favourite first, it may change the way you feel about the AK and Exp 1.

As has been stated save for what want, not what you can afford now.

I do love those new explorers, but there is a reason why every other thread is about Subs.

Save up. You'll never be happy till you get what you really want.
