Met a Vet WIS today
I was in a meeting completing some post deployment health assesememts and the man I was meeting with kept eyeing my Sub (on the Everest). Eventually I finally broke the watch ice and asked him what kind of watch he had on. He showed it to me, and it was a Zeinth. He went on to tell me that he was a retired Vet, and explained how Zeinth once made the movement for the Daytona. I took off my Sub and handed it over and he marveled at the Everest band and we talked prices. He told me he had a Sub as well, and two Dates, purchased overseas at various PX stores all under 3k (wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the day .
I laughed and told him today's price of a Sub and he was shocked. Needless to say, I did tell him that I enjoyed wearing my Sub on an Everest band as it allowed me to fly under the radar. He commented that he would like an Everest band and I provided him the info. It felt good to touch across the sands of time via a love for Rolex watches. He lives nearby so I told him I would help with assembly and likely talk more story and of course get some pics. I didn't have my phone but his Zeinth was pretty. P.S. Two Rolex encounters in less than 48 hours, I think I need another watch. Oh, he did tell me he had a GMT Pepsi and sold it years ago (he looked sad at this reflection).
