From personal experience...a Tudor Date Day
This was the exact same watch (there are a lot of them floating around) that I got snookered with 4 years ago and had to return for credit. I reported it with the obvious shortcomings, but perhaps it would help sink the listing if others would chime in...
Item number: 380582073636 http://www.ebay.com/itm/380582073636...84.m1423.l2649 There are the obvious signs...phoney case back sticker with bad model number and the 18K designation stamped on the bracelet center end link...a bad dial and bad diamonds and an off color movement. I had mine in my posession for about 5 minutes before sending it back for credit. I pity the 19 bidders...I know, I was there once before too. |

You forgot the rotor sticker - sad isn't it.

"This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."

The watch arrived in a phony Tudor box with a sales slip from a real Tudor Hong Kong AD transaction, but for a different Tudor model and a different serial number. The salesperson listed on the 'real' sales slip had the same last name as the seller and I surmised it was either the sister or cousin. Upon opening the package, I immediately knew I'd been had and started the process through ebay to return it, pointing out the obvious fake issues. I then started getting emails from the seller in Hong Kong urging me to return the watch outside of the ebay system and he would make things right, if only I would ship the watch to some back alley in Hong Kong. At first, I politely said I would pursue this through the ebay protections, and soon his emails became threatening and abusive. Of course, I kept ebay informed every step of the way, forwarding all the emails. I was finally given permission to return the watch to the seller's Oregon address because that was what was listed in the ebay system, not Hong Kong. I packeged up the watch and shipped it via UPS to the address, which by the way was a UPS Mailbox store. Once I could prove delivery, ebay refunded the money. I thought the story would end there...but...I then received a phone call from the UPS store saying they were receiving lots of packages for this particular person, but they'd never seen him and no one was picking up any of the packages and could I be of help locating him? Well, it seems this particular seller had registered a USA address in Oregon with ebay using the UPS store. He then went out and started making small ebay purchases of a couple of dollars each in order to build up his satisfaction rating. I learned this by finally examining his ebay history and found that the vast majority of his scores as a ebay member were for tiny purchases. Once the rating was high, people like me who didn't take the time to dig a bit deeper into his history could be fooled. But, there's more! When I bought my watch from this seller, there were more than one available, and I heard from another buyer in Austrailia who had also been scammed, but he had allowed himself to deal with the seller direct and not through ebay. His watch had been sent to that back alley address and of course, there was no refund forthcoming and ebay was of no help because their protection system and rules had been circumvented. I don't think this guy ever got any kind of a refund. That said, first, thanks to those who helped get this particular listing removed, and secondly, I've never given up on ebay. I've just become a much, much better buyer and have since purchased three very authentic and verified Tudor's, including this very model that I wanted in the first place. |
