LV SUB faded insert?
i have just realized a week ago that the color of the insert of my LV sub isnt bright green anymore, it looks faded dark green some areas almost like brown.
i brought it to AD, the watchmaker also found it strange, he can order new green bezel but since its not covered with warranty anymore its gonna cost like 200eur, not 50eur like black bezel. dont know if i want to pay that much for a thin piece of metal, and it doesnt look too bad. but the real question is, how can 3year old insert fade that fast, it didnt happen overnight. excessive UV light? i dont live in a sunny country, only occasion i think i wore it couple of times in tanning bed its hard to capture the right color but you can notice the difference in this pic look at the edge of insert between insert and crystal, you can see the original color. any ideas? |

Interesting. Was just things how a faded LV bezel would look like.
How often do you wear it? Where do you usually wear it to? Can you give us larger pix? |

The green inserts aren't cheap. Your call. If it's going to bug you 24/7.....
Every now & then they do pop up in the Accessories section. Good luck! |

Not normal at all. If it is genuine then it is defective but I have never personally heard of that occurring.
Strange!

Hey welcome to the world of vintage...don't ever get rid of that insert, it will command a hefty premium before you know it and now your LV has a touch of individuality

i found an old pic, this is how it looked like. when i compare it to this pic theres huge difference, but i think because it happened gradually i havent notice earlier. but i dont hate the way it looks now, actually sometimes more, because its unique and more stealthy, but not black and still LV. edit: i have uploaded new pic, click to enlarge |

There is your answer. .....
You say you wore it in a tanning booth......duh it worked. I care say you over did it with the fake tan. ?..... PS: When posting photographs make sure you keep the size to about 1000pixels wide.

I would wonder how this happened and why? Don't seem to be related to exposure to light since there are so many of them out there yet, they are all remain shiny green year after year (as far as I have seen).
Interesting...

I like it faded, if it bugs you replace it but try to keep the original one as mentioned above. You might end up with one of the desirable "ghost" bezel inserts eventually.

If you can keep the original go ahead and change it. If not, leave it as is. You'll always be able to get a new bezel.
Or, buy the 50 euro black one?? It'll fit.

The tanning bed is the culprit....if a tanning bed can darken your skin, imagine anything else would as well

Despite what others have said, I really think there is a problem here and not simply the fading effect of age involved.Your watch is simply not that old for one. Secondly, have you ever seen another 16610LV bezel exhibiting the same effect / defect...I have not.
I would imagine that if the paint job on someones car had such a dramatic color shift after only a few years, they would certainly take it back to the dealer with concern. It would most likely be considered a defect in that instance. Why is this any different?

as others already said, if it starts bug me too much ill replace it and keep the old one. or get a new one as color variety.but as now it doesnt look bad, just wanted know if anybody else has the same "problem". its strange i have no clue what might have caused it, but one thing is for sure i have no reason to change the color articially on purpose, i dont know if its even possible. whatever.. btw, has your lv still the exact same color as the day you bought it? no signs of fading whatsoever? |
