Wow! Didn't know it would be this hard...
Having been trying for over a year to find a new GMT Pepsi. I know they have been out of commission for about 5-6 years but haven't been able to get any leads even after posting using my former ID. Are these really that hard to find? Just wondering what people think who have them and who are searching for them. And, if anybody has any ideas on how to get a hold of one. Trying to find one to buy my dad since he has always liked the watch but was never able to afford one...

What a great thing to do for your dad. I hope you find it! Check with some of the sellers in the selling section and maybe they can source it for you and help out in the looking process.

New might be a hard one... New old stock even. Pre-loved are out there for a bit of a premium. It has been discontinued for a few years now. Good luck!

If I were you, I'd rather give dad a brand new Submariner No Date than an old GMT which is overpriced. He'd be equally happy if not 10 times more.

I could be wrong but I think you'd be looking at quite a premium for a
watch that's brand new in its original packaging including all the plastic etc. I agree with the above post that you're probably better of buying a Sub no date or something like that - unless he very specifically wants the pepsi GMT. If you contact a dealer such as HQ Milton, they may well be able to source it for you. That'll probably give you better chances than posting WTB ads. You may want to be flexible on pricing; I have no idea of what sort of premium we're looking at but still. Just my 2c. |

Super rare to run into a BNIB watch like that.Even once you find it, expect to overpay for it.
Buy him a current model? The new SubC or an ExpII? |

I would just find a nice pre-owned GMT Pepsi and send it off to Rolex for service and refinishing. Closest you will get to new at a reasonable price.

Hey guys thanks for the responses. I love my Submariner Date! He actually admires it from time to time but will never ask to wear it. I think he knows if he shows even a little bit I interest, I will give it to him. I just remember when I was growing up that he use to always comment about the blue/red bezel and how it always stuck out to him. He actually has been sporting the same Timex we got at Walmart when I was about 10. I did see David SW put one up about 6-7 months ago and was a second late in PMing him. He sold it in about an hour. As far as having one serviced, it just wouldn't feel right. My dad never thought twice about getting essential stuff for me, so I just wanted to return the favor and buy him something he would never expect...

That is a real nice idea for a son to do for his dad. I applaud you for it.
If I were you I would again approach David SW with your thoughts. Good luck! |

Thanks! Hope I find one! I think David SW is sick of me. I have been messaging him for over a year (every 2 months) it seems about one. Looking back at the one he sold it may have been just about the time I started messaging him. I think I am on his radar if he can get a hold of one.

Any evidence that rolex might make a coke or pepsi again?

Why not take your dad to the AD and see if he likes another watch more now. As Im sure youre well aware the ADs can be quite mesmeric and compelling.

The best way to buy something "overpriced" is to buy new. The second that you walk out the door, it's lost value. To the OP...good luck on your search.

I intended to wear the Pepsi so as far as I was concerned it was BNIB as I removed all the remaining labels for use anyway. You have to be careful as to what is a genuine factory Coke or Pepsi because both bezels are quite available on the net (fake or aftermarket bezels, too - be careful!) and a lot of so called "Coke" or "Pepsi" GMT's are actually bezel changed watches and not "true" factory direct models. The warranty card has a letter at the end of the model number (sorry, can remember the letters used and my box is buried in a drawer) which describes it as a genuine Coke or Pepsi from the factory. Believe me, I paid a premium for my Pepsi and when I mentioned to David that I thought the price was rather high he politely agreed with me but informed that demand is high for a BNIB. I know if I decided not to purchase he would sell it in a flash! I love my Pepsi and it is one of my favorite Rolex watches I have in my collection. As time goes on, I believe that genuine Coke's and Pepsi's will go nowhere but up. Even good used ones are still selling for the original purchase price, although the dollar has lost value since they were discontinued. It's a great Rolex watch and I wish you luck on your hunt. J.
