Would you name your child Rolex, Pepsi or Coke?

Would you ever consider naming your child after your favorite watch :).

As a side note, my nickname growing up was Coca Cola. Not because I drank it, but because it's a variation of my last name!

Hulk Hogan, perhaps.... Though he rather pre-dates his namesake!

Interestingly enough, in some countries, this is done. While working an airplane crash in South America, medically evaluating the injured, we came across a number of interesting names.

Aspirina (Aspirin) and Usnavy (US Navy) come to mind, at the moment.....

Both parents, when asked how they came up with these names, indicated off a bottle of Aspirin, and off the side of a ship they saw (they lived in a coastal town, where the Navy often docked)....

Would not be surprised to come across a Rolex, Patek, or Omega, one of these days.....

It's like parents naming their girl "Mercedes" - wtf is wrong with them??

Why not Nissan, Maserati or even.... Koenigsegg!

Although 'Bugatti' works as a middle name... lol!

Mercedes was a girls name before the car was invented!

Thanks wiki...
"An Austrian diplomat based in Nice, a business man running a profitable business selling cars, and a racing enthusiast, Emil Jellinek had been racing DMG automobiles under the pseudonym Mercédès, after his daughter, Mercédès Jellinek.[1] Later he contracted with DMG for a small series of dedicated sports cars containing an engine that officially bore his daughter's name."

The car is named after the girl, not the other way around.

Yes, I know that Mercedes Benz was named after Karl Benz's daughter... but current society associates Mercedes with a car company, not the name of a person.

So we should all dumb down to the lowest common denominator...?

I named my boy Jameson...but I don't really care for Jameson Whiskey personally. I choke it down every birthday though. Actually, the 18 year is pretty tasty.

You and your son can get trashed on it when he comes of age!

My daughter isn't named after a watch; she's named after a train that ran on the Lackawanna railroad; the Phoebe Snow. (Which probably is also where the singer Phoebe Snow-- born Phoebe Laub -- got her stage name.)

Though her middle name isn't Snow, our Phoebe was born during a blizzard that dumped 10 inches of snow and closed the roads - our parents couldn't get through to see their first grandbaby for a week.

And trust me, you have no ideea how gipsy name their childrens:
Wimblendon, Mercedes, Medalion, Cosmos, Sun, Comet, Paris, Elvetia ( Switzerland ), France, Televizor ( TV ), Satelit ( satellite ), OZN ( UFO ), and so many incredible names that you never thought or hear. I do not want to say more, but ar so many things that will let you amazed, about them. They are only a "community" ( indeed, lots of them ).
