Purchase Now or After Basel 2013?

With Basel 2013 right around the corner, I am wondering how many people are waiting to purchase a Rolex until they see what announcements are made at the watch show.

I'm sure whatever is new at Basel will still take quite a long time to get to ADs and dealers on here. So if there's something your heart is set on, go for it. I'm sure your desires won't change even after Basel (unless some crazy anniversary Daytona comes out or something)

My next is going to be a GMTIIC. I am saving my last bit of hope that Basel will unveil what we all want for this model.

Why wait? Buy one now and another later this year. Anything unveiled at Basel will not be in AD's until Sept at the earliest.

I'm happy to wait.

Not that long to go until Basel anyway, even though any new models won't appear in ADs until later in the year.

I am picking one up now but was thinking about leaving the stickers intact until after Basel. I am picking up a tt sub this week for my b-day. I really want a tt sub in rose gold so I may wait to see what happens. If a new Daytona or gmt come out I will be buying one of those as well.

I'd like to see a new SS Daytona with a ceramic bezel. A bump in size would be great too!

No plans to purchase before. There is nothing that has sparked my interest this week in the current Rolex line up. Who knows though, maybe that will change next week.

Be curious to see, but since the blue YM and Sky-Dweller are still rare, almost a year later, if you are looking to buy something they introduce this year, you can save your cash until sometime in early 2014 if you are lucky.

If a new daytona comes out, it may be a longer wait..

I think rarity is variable.

I remember being able to try on the Sky Dweller and blue Yacht Master last year at the ADs where I am without much difficulty. Just walked past and there they were on display. This of course is probably more to do with plain luck and could be anomalous to everyone else's experience.

Granted, the earliest appearance of the new models in ADs would have to be some months after Basel.

not really in the market at the moment, but, of those that i do think often about, it's not rolex at the moment. for me, at this time, my LVc and DJ cover all the rolex bases.

Ive got my next three watch buys planned and budgeted for, a Rolex and 2 APs. I would be very surprised if Rolex came out with something that changed my plans.

I will wait for Basel, last year Tudor presented some outstanding retro models.
I have only a small glimmer of hope that Rolex may follow suit with a retro model this year.
A new model in the Rolex range would be great.
Buying something now would only be vintage for me.....and there might be a vintage giveaway around the corner....

I'd like to see Rolex introducing a retro looking model but with the watches they released lately I somehow doubt it. Still, one can always be surprised!

As for the possible vintage giveaway...

I don't think there will be a price increase before Basel, so might as well wait. Especially if you're in the market for the Daytona, because this year is its 50th anniversary.

Good point on a possible price increase. Is this the time of year that Rolex introduces price changes? Also, when they do have a price increase, what percentage are we talking about?

Buying a Rolex is a pretty big investment, therefore, I would like to wait until after Basel to make my final decision. Would be a shame if you buy a Rolex now and something much better comes along..

And what about Basel 2014? and 15?

If there's something you like ... get it and enjoy it now. Who knows what's going to happen tomorrow.
