Although not my style, they do look very well made. The screwed in steel toe plate is very interesting, I haven't seen that before.

They definitely help to protect the sole at the tip. It helps to have it done directly by the manufacturer of the shoe, some companies may refuse to resole and recraft if done by someone else. You could still more than likely get a resole done by a cobbler. But they wouldn't have the ability to do it on the original Last. Which idealy is the best way to get it done.

Thank you.
A lot of the work is done by hand. They only make about 1000 pairs of shoes a year.

By the way all of the shoes they make are MTO, but there is no additional upcharge for this. Most manufactures such as Edward Green or John Lobb will charge you an extra $150 to $200 for MTO. MTO basically means that they make the shoe or boot based upon what you want within certain limits. Starting with the Lasts they use, the models they have, leathers they work with, Soles they use, and colors they work with. Vass does have a website, but they only display their base models. This is the first time for me to order a Vass shoe, so I am going with a seller via eBay because he listed something which was configured just the way I wanted it. I'm paying him a bit extra so I don't have to worry about navigating their paying process, possibly paying extra fees, and I wanted some extra guidance in regards to fit (LAST). Vass probably would have helped me with fit. You do have to have something else in a comparable fit to give them. Nike wouldn't work, but something more like Edward Green, John Lobb, or G&G would work. Do keep in mind Vass only makes about 1000 pairs a year and they do most of this by hand. So the cost benefit ratio for Vass is actually pretty good because you could very easily end up getting a pair of their shoes for a good bit under $1000. Hand made shoes made by other manufactures can easily cost you much more. For this particular model I will pay a little more than $900. I have paid more for shoes which where made more by machine than hand. This one and my Saint Crispins will be made more by hand. But this will include some extras to include Lasted Shoe Trees, Double Leather Sole, The Flush Metal Toe Tap, and shipping. In other words believe it or not, Vass would be known as a good bang for your Buck.

I almost forgot. If you go to their website: http://www.budapester-schuhe.de/hand...2,0,0,0,0.html Click on shoe catalog and they will send you a catalogue that includes prices for their shoes.
