How Excited Do You Get With An Incoming?
Hi All, this may apply a bit more to those who have been collecting for many years and or been fortunate enough to aqcuire and own many watches...
I have an untouched 1680 coming tomorrow (3/26) to my office from Andrew Shear This is my first 1680 - and I have been fortunate enough to have experienced many vintage and modern "incoming days before The Arrival Day". We finalized the deal last Thursday and I have been guaging my excitement and anticipation since then. My excitement and anticipation is HIGH - but not the unbridled raw high (i.e. limited sleep the night before) I experienced for the "first ones". QUESTION: How about you? How does your 4th,5th or 10th incoming feel vs. your 1st or 2nd Of course - pics coming soon! |

I must be honest and say that every watch I have ever bought has brought along with it the same excitement...
In fact, the last watch I purchased (This past January) brought with it more excitement then I have ever experienced before... I think the reason for that is having purchased many watches over the years, I am now much better at gaging what it is that I really am looking for in a watch... And when I find that, especially after a long long search, it's all the more exciting... For what it's worth, the watch I purchased in January also came from Andrew...He's a top man... |

Great point of view Clay. I agree, I am far more equipped to better evaluate vintage now (and having friends like Beaumont Miller doesnt hurt ).
That gives me a great sense of confidence going into this one. Also - buying from Andrew helps I am already planning tomorrow morning: A make coffee B get dressed C take loupe to the office D,E,F,G,H - Z look out the office window for the Fedex truck beginning at 9:00!!! |

Personally, I have different levels of excitement depending on what it is, or where it is coming from. I guess you could call it apprehension. I was VERY excited / apprehensive when waiting for my red sub and 16800 from overseas. I was not so nearly excited when waiting for my white / SS TOG from George Ab. I guess that was because I knew the TOG was safe and in good hands with George

As often as possible I try to live vicariously through the person receiving the watch. If I know someone is getting something special in the mail, I want to be the first person they call after the Fed Ex truck drives away and the box is open. That 1680 is one of the nicest out there...enjoy it, you deserve it my friend.

Congrats in advance Russ! I know the watch and it is a gret example! The good thingis the excitement never goes away and is as strong with each new watch as it was with my very first. I live vicariously through Dr. John and hope he sends me the private text shot as soon as package is opened.
Sorry John--couldn't help myself! Big congrats again Russ!!! Enjoy that beauty....

All within reason, but I enjoy the buzz too! Looking forward to seeing pics of the 1680. Is it a red or white one, BTW? I probably saw it on AS's website recently. Top bloke with top pieces, congrats.

Every incoming is very exciting for me. Although my last purchase, an Omega CrPO, was kind of an on the spot purchase. Generally in post on here to decide which one and wait and think about it, but this time I just went right out and bought it.
But, yes, every time is really exciting!!

Great purchase!
Can't wait to view the pictures. I don't get a chance to get TOO worked-up about an in-coming because I receive them the next day! I get all a-flutter when I make the payment.
