Input from recent travelers to Jamaica
Just curious if anyone has done any Rolex shopping in Jamaica recently? What can I expect as far as deals? Does Rolex still produce special edition pieces for their Caribbean ADs?
I have a 7 night family getaway booked at the Beaches Resort in Ocho Rios during late May. If anyone has been to Ocho Rios recently, I'd like to hear your impressions of the area. I've read all the threads related to getting hassled and so forth, and not venturing off into dangerous areas in the evenings (do people actually make the choice to do that?). And yes, I plan to take a nice watch with me, so I won't start another one of those threads. |

I took my wife to Sandals Whitehouse and we had a blast! Thats our fourth time back to that resort in 3 years and Jamaica is fantastic. I have been to ocho and its nice but I do enjoy Negril and Whitehouse much better.
I'm assuming that you are taking children if you're going to Beaches?

Indeed I am - a 4 year old daughter, and my wife, who have both been asking to go to the beach for several months.
There's a Beaches in Negril as well - anything make you like it better than Ocho Rios? I still have time to modify my reservations and just chose Ocho Rios because they have a Sesame Street theme.. |

Negril is an hour or so away, I havent been to either so I cant comment on either but Negril is known to have a longer beach 7 miles I believe. Heres a link to both.
http://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowTopic-...s-Jamaica.html I think Negril has the better more updated resort as well.

Thanks - Ocho Rios just completed a $30Mil renovation and the rooms are actually nicer there than Negril. I knew about the beach in Negril, but my wife seems to favor a smaller beach that is also private. We're going to stay with Ocho Rios - we can always visit Negril while we're there since it's a sister resort.
Thanks - guess no one has purchased a Rolex in Jamaica, so I'll check out the local AD and see how things go. |

Just got back from Sandals Grande Riviera in Ochos Rios 3 weeks ago. Great time. Airport to our resort was 1 1/2 hrs away. Dunns River falls is right there family friendly.

Dunns River Falls is a must-do from what I've read, so we plan on seeing it.
Thanks for the feedback! |

I purchased a Sub C in October at Swiss Store AD at "Shoppes at Rose Hall" near Montego Bay,Friendly staff and fair prices. Also an AD at island shopping Village at Ocho Rios but did not have a large selection and whole complex was empty at midday?I think because the cruise liners are not docking as much
at Ocho Rios it is very quiet so good deals maybe available? |
