Vintage Eaton Rolex 1/4 Century Club Watch

Hi,

I've looked at the new Prince, but recently have thought of acquiring a circa 1940-1960 Eaton Rolex, a 1/4 Century Club Watch.

Does anyone on this forum know the advantages / disadvantages of this watch?

And what price range should I expect?

I'll post a photo of what I'm looking for soon.

Thanks,

John

Beautiful watch..

I don't know the value, but I would expect it is costly. These are Prince watches that were given to employees of the Canadian Eaton Company for 25 years of service so there probably aren't that many around.. Some recipients also had the dials refinished as it was thought that the Rolex dial would be more valuable than the Eaton dials......Of course they were wrong ....

The movement on the watch originally was produced by Hermann Aegler at the Aegler watchworks and was also provided to Gruen at the same time in 1928 for the American market and used in their very popular Techi-Quadron .

Gruen was producing it's own movements so concentrated on that effort while Aegler (Hermann) was given stock by Wilsdorf in the new Rolex enterprise. Rolex didn't actually produce anything in their early days. They bought movements and cases, put them together and sold them..

Shortly after this "merger" Aegler, in 1920, changed the name of their watchworks to the Aegler S.A., Rolex Watch Co.

Well...good luck with your search..

Thanks for the reply, Tools...

I missed out on the nice Prince Eaton (previous photos.)

I found one of these (below photo) and it's the first I've seen of this style and is 14K yellow gold.

I thought the Eaton Rolexes were only of the Prince line.

This one is in Ontario, Canada...
