Hi TRF,

I have tried on these two watches 16610LV and seadweller both M serials. I just cant make up my mind

. I orginally thought of purchasing the 39mm explorer but not after I put tried on these two bad boys. Help which one should I go with. The dealer said both should hold thier value and rise...not sure if that was strategy to push either sale. Your thoughts PLEASE

Buy what you like. No one knows what will happens to values in the future. If they did, they would not be selling watches for a living.

i like the color green, so, i'm partial to the LV. plus, you can switch between green and black bezel inserts, which is nice.

but, the SD is such a tool watch icon in the range.

ideally, i'd have an SD and an LVc.

Exactly trouble today Rolex are no longer watches they are seen as little more by some as just $$$$$££££.Myself always buy whatever watch I want its not governed by if this or that will go up or down a Rolex is for a life time of wearing.

I picked up an 16610 LV last April. It's been my daily until February of this year when I aquired a SD 16600, which is all I wear now.

I still love the LV but can't take the SD off for it. Pick the one that makes you smile the most, can't go wrong either way imo.

They are both iconic watches, both now discontinued models. I own one of each, as I liked them equally well, and if you can swing it, buying both might be the way to go. While I certainly agree that one good philosophy is to buy what you like and what works best for you, at the price point you can afford, I also believe, all else being equal, in buying what may yield me the best return for my dollar spent, should I need to, or decide to, sell in the future. While none of us has a crystal ball, we can look to the past and along with whatever current trends we see now, attempt an educated guess as to which option might give you the most favorable exit strategy in the future. For my money, if I liked then equally well, I would buy the LV now (first?) and look to acquire the SD next, unless one was priced so much more attractively than the other. I think given the "collector nature" of people, the LV may from a psychological perspective, increase in "value" faster/more (decrease in value slower/less) than the Sea Dweller, although I believe both will both hold their value well. And, as with most every purchase, you "make your money" (if and when you want or have to sell, in the future) on the "buy" so what one pays becomes a critical part of the equation!

Go for the LV.

The first Rolex I bought was the SD but I found it too thick and unbalanced feeling on my wrist.
I ended up with the 16610 (this was in 1999). When that watch was stolen last year in 2012...
I decided to replace it with the 1610LV. I love the watch since it's like the classic 16610 but with a twist of color that sets it apart in a room full of black subs!

I think both are very nice and both will hold their value. I would go with a sea dweller though. I don't know if I would always want the green bezel on the sub. It's a personal choice though so if you are leaning towards one then go for it
