Watch as a compass?
How about this..you have a compass built into your Rolex, (sort of). Say it is 8:00. Point the 8 towards the sun. Now look for the 12:00 marker (triangle on my Sub). Point the hour hand at the sun. Split the difference, so, half way between 8 and 12 is 10 (10:00). That is south and would make 4 north. If you need to go east or west from there, adjust your direction accordingly, 90 degrees or 15 minutes.
