Question for you Yachtmaster owners about the bezel
Just looking at a few YM's on the market. I saw this one and it made me wonder just how easy/hard it is to scratch the bezel (say, compared to a Sub). Will a RSC be able to refinish a bezel to like-new condition? Thanks

bezel will scratch very very easily, Im sure only RSC can clean it up to the same finish. Beautiful watch though.

It is a beautiful watch, but the bezel does scratch pretty easily. It also looks pretty bad as well. Because of the matte finish, the scratch my wife put on hers shows up as very shiny. I suppose the RSC will be able to restore it, but that won't be for another 4 years. I wouldn't let that deter your from buying it though. All watches get scratched, and none of them look all that terrific when they are scratched. Just part of the joy of watch ownership.

Good question!
Platinum is a VERY difficult material to work with, and you need special tools to do so. And polishing PL up to a high-shine is even more difficult. But Rolex WILL be able to bring a PL bezel back to its former glory should it be scratched.

I notice now that Platinum is more resilient to scratching as compared with yellow gold!! JJ

And I have been EXTRA careful with Platty since the 1st of December when I purchased him.
Not a single scratch (touch wood) in all these weeks!!

Congrats on that, JJ. I am always careful with all of my Rollies, and hence have been most fortunate not to have picked up any scratches or dings (touch wood)!!!

Is the matte part of the dial bead blasted? I'm wondering how the RSC would recondition the bezel. Luckily I can only see my bezel scratches through a loupe...for now...knock on wood...why did I even mention this...damn, I should just scratch it myself now to get it over with!

They sandblast the bezel. I had mine done at RSC Dallas a couple months back. The cost was minimal -- under $50.
