AARRGGHH... First scratch after service
Got my Expy 2 back several weeks ago after its first service at SF RSC (they do awesome work BTW). Tonight while leaving the kids room, put a nice scratch on it after I somehow banged it against the door latch.
I know those scratches add character, but still.... AARRGGHH!!! |

Never have your watches polished.
It's just a set up for disappointment. It's the same with new cars.

Part of the reason I request my watches not to be polished while being serviced. I feel your pain though.

Think of it this way: You have the first scratch out of the way. Now you won't be so concerned when another one comes along!

So annoying! And I don't buy this 'character building' nonsense for a second. You spend thousands on a watch, it gets scratched, there is just no upside to that. For me, I've generally tolerated scratches which I know can be removed, I just may not bother getting them removed. Also, having a sapphire crystal is wonderful in that the watch itself may have scratches and dings, but the crystal remains perfect (so far!)
But, case and bracelet scratches are going to happen, accept them with good grace, know that they can be removed if you really want, and get on with life!

That sucks, but we all get them if our watches are worn, not that we have to tell you that. Door frames suck.

I've learned to turn off the propane tank on my grille with my right hand. I learned the hard way there are way too many metal edges to risk scratching my Rolex that lives on the left wrist. I also try to not walk so close to door edges when I go through the opening. I hate banging my watch on things!

the more the scratches, the lower the resale value ... try not to put too many scratches on it ... I saw some Rolexes that were worn daily 24/7 for years ...they looked like crap with all those scratches ... and when you have that many scratches, then you start wondering as a buyer, what other abuse the watch went through???
