Gaining, now losing secs

Just looking into some thoughts on what I have discovered. Purchased a new Exp. 2 from an AD end of last March. Using Time.gov I tracked its time, just out of interest, to see how my watch ran. On avg it gained 1-2 sec everyone 1-2 days, not bad. Lately it has been now losing 1-2 sec at about the same rate. I typically wear the watch 22-23hr/s a day (only off during exercise/yard work). I have manually wound the watch 3-5 times since its purchase, 40 FULL turns. Last full wound was just this am.
I am just interested in your thoughts... I am truthfully not concerned, just would rather make sense of it.

On a side note, during the times I am not wearing my watch, I store it dial down.

Sounds fine to me.

Temperature, humidity, position, amplitude . . . your watch is keeping time within COSC spec. Enjoy.

Piece of advice, don't use Time.gov from the computer. Set a quartz watch if available then time off that. I went crazy for about a week timing off time.gov because there can be delays depending on internet speed and more importantly 100% steady connection.
Thought my watch was going bonkers until I timed it off my Casio.

Your watch is running fine just wear it and enjoy it and please don't get too anal about a few seconds either way remember there are 86400 in a day.And there is no need to wear watch over night just take it off but a full wind once or twice a week even if worn will do no harm only good.

Apart from knowing if it's time to get up or not! I couldn't imagine sleeping without a watch on.

I would also suggest not using online time sources. There can be too many interruptions. I check mine once a week, adjust if need be and give it a good wind.

Sounds like your watch is running well TBH.

Peter's point is well made.

As for possible causes of true variances - you can always have a watchmaker put it on a Witchi timer if you think it's the watch itself.

Outside of the possible connection latency to/from time.gov, the only other cause is external influences from the your activities on different days. Things like a day at the computer with little activity for 8-10 hrs and mostly dial-up, or weekend spent watching sports on TV versus other days in vigorous work and watch in many different positions.

Ya know, I believe this was asked before, and I remember several people asking how accurate this was, and the replies were that it was dead on. I believed that due to internet speed etc that this was not as accurate as quoted.

As I mentioned in initial post, I am not too concerned with this. I was more interested in what would cause it to gain then lose time.

I have always slept with my watches on. Safest place is on my wrist. It doesn't bother me and is one less step to take in the am (as small and simple as it is). With kids you never know when your up for good or up for just a few min and back to bed.
