Bah humbug, any Rolex w/ lug holes is vintage! Or at the very least, a classic.

I like Dr. Bob's term "Classic".

Acrylic crystal and a matte dial is a must IMO.
Although, a true vintage Rolex can be defined as a watch they won't service anymore!

Matte dial is not critical. I have gmts and subs from early 60s with gloss gilt dials. Very much vintage.

Fair enough.

How about a dial without gold surrounds?

Just like the ongoing debate on what vintage is it all depends on your perspective of vintage. Acrylic,matte,gilt,30 years old ? as of now i consider vintage as 30 years old

So my 1963 GMT Gilt gloss dial small hand PCG that has just been serviced by Rolex UK is no longer vintage?

Or the 2 red subs and a DRSD they currently have.

I'm stunned.

Vintage is classified the same way as with cars - over 25 years old.

I would say that 'Vintage' relates to the easily-determined and rarely disputable age; whereas 'Classic' has more to do with the nebulous concept of archetypal design.

For example, in car terms, a 35-year old Ford is a vintage car (by virtue of its age), an older Porsche 911 is a classic (owing to its resemblance to the original in design terms), but a 35-year old Porsche 911 is a vintage-classic (age and design). Naturally, I am assuming that a 35-year old Ford has little to recommend it in terms of noteworthy design, which may or may not be the case, but I am sure you get the idea!

'Vintage' happens; 'Classic' is conferred.

Maybe post this on the vintage section? I would say more of a classic than a vintage though. Right now it's a modern classic, later on maybe a vintage classic?

Rolex Greece: Factory Service Center.. will service !!

In fact they have a different price list for servicing vintage
A full service for a vintage sub starts from $520...when a
regular modern Sub will cost you a modest $430

A vintage Daytona service starts at $560...and not at $2.500 some watchmakers would have you believe
