about to pull the trigger on exp1 214270

Finally I went to visit the AD! All my questions were answered. 39mm is the way to go.
They said the best they could do was 5% off and ship out of state- so its a 12% discount.

Is that a good deal?

The watch had no green sticker on the back- is this typical? Both my parents had the sticker on it. So that was a bit odd- but the exp had no rehaut on it.

I hate to bring this up, but the ad said Rolex was raising prices in 12% in the next month. Doesnt matter to me since ill buy before then.

God that watch is gorgeous.

No worries buying from AD. Not all had green stickers and don't really mean anything.

Enjoy your new purchase

I agree, make sure they are listed on the Rolex website and you have nothing to worry about. I would double check the rehaut though, as far as I know all modern Rolex should have it.

Don't believe the price increase, it's a sales tactic. The truth is even the AD's don't know when the prices are going up more than a week in advance.

You should be able to get 10% at least off the MSRP. This is one of the more negotiable professional watches. Good luck.

I was reading an article about the new Rolex design trend and how they spared the exp.1 from the arguable hip trend. it's a true classic.

FYI the 3,6,9 numbers are white gold! It should have the case sticker intact if it is new.

I've seen some pretty good deals from reputable sellers here on TRF for that watch but if you want new from the AD and are happy with the price, then that decision is yours. Rolex will certainly raise their prices but when and by how much only they know for sure. 12% seems a hefty increase to me.

Nice watch a true classic. I would call back and tell them you spoke to another ad that offered 10% off and the same shipping option to save sales tax. Say that would would prefer to do business local if they could match the price. Most likely they will work with you.

If you are talking about the large green sticker that was positioned on the back of new Rolexes, that is a thing of the past.

Enjoy your new Explorer! As I mentioned in a previous post, was in NYC at the Rolex store recently where they display hundreds of models. I had no buyers' regrets with my "simple" Explorer I in comparison to the displays. Has really held up well to my expectations. Have no hesitation in moving forward.

Regarding pricing, will let others comment, as i bought mine just as it was introduced to market. I got a small discount, but just enough to cover local taxes.

Well this was the first AD I stopped by. I plan to visit at least 4 more in the next two weeks.
Good to know about the stickers.
The minute hands look fine to me. I was worried 39mm would be too big and I would have to give up the bracelet, blue lume, and the updated mechanicals.

Love my one and only too. Glad your going to go for it. To reinforce what has already been said, I bought mine at an AD in November. Some protective stickers, but no big green sticker on the back of mine either.

You said there's no rehaut... You mean the ROLEXROLEXROLEX on the ring around the dial right? That's kind of strange, I'm pretty sure the rehaut was already standard when the 39mm came out in 2010...

The lettering on the 214270 is much finer than it is on most other watches in the line. The 214270 most certainly should have the engraved rehaut.

This. RRR branding for the 39mm Explorer is very subtle, and quite beautiful for it's discretion. Yet another lovely aspect to this revised classic.

This is a good point, it may simply be harder to see. Daytona rehaut is also smaller than others and can be hard to see in certain light.

Definitely try to contact some of the trusted sellers here, 5% on an explorer just seems like peanuts. On the plus side the watch is absolutely beautiful, simple and slim and has nice wrist feel. Just dont get suckered into paying almost retail for something that you just shouldnt.

Nice watch, sold mine after being 'disillusioned' by the short hands fallacy... Regret

ridiculous. the "short hands" is not an issue. blown way out of proportion (no pun intended) by 36mm owners.

edit: just realized the guy above me said the same thing lol.

the hands were never short, it was basically amplified by 36mm owner.

with new clasp and updated movement, I don't see the 39mm will lose out to 36mm

The engraved rehaut is also where you will find your watch's serial number, at the 6 o'clock position. That is why the green stickers are now obsolete and not utilized on new watches. Wanted to clarify that for OP.
