New Addition (216570) and a Couple of Questions
After perusing a thread on this forum about the Explorer II (with plenty of wrist shots), I paid a visit to my local AD the other day to have a look at the watch. They had both a black and white one in stock, and I took a liking to the white version. I told the saleslady that I would bring my wife in later in the week to have a look.
The next day, my saleslady called me to tell me that she had an incredible deal for me. Apparently a customer had purchased a white Explorer II a few days earlier (May 29th) and returned it to my AD a few hours ago. She said that the watch was in perfect shape and had box, papers, and most of the protective stickers still on it. I asked her to set the watch aside and told her I'd bring my wife in to have a look. We went to the shop yesterday and had a look at the watch, which was in as-advertised condition. My wife gave me the thumbs up to buy it, and I walked out with a beautiful Explorer II on my wrist! I paid $6,475 for it. Now for a couple of questions. What do you think of the price? And do I still get the 3 year factory warranty, even though the watch is preowned?

The warranty on Rolex watches is two years unless the AD gives you a extra year from him in writing.Well if it was sold as a new watch then you would get the two year warranty, but its very seldom the warranty is needed anyway. As for the price if you are happy with what you paid that's all that matter's enjoy wearing your watch in good health.

Not sure about the price but the factory warranty is 2 years if I'm not mistaken and it should follow the watch not the buyer. Someone here will come along and correct me if that's wrong.
So... price I'm not sure about (not that it matters now) warranty should be 2 years and you should be covered for the 2 years minus the time it was owned by someone else. Great looking Explorer!

Unless there is actually someone elses name on the warranty card. My guess is that the watch was never purchased and returned, and that story was just a ploy to put the final nail in the sales coffin. I purchased my 216570 brand new from my AD for that exact same price, which is 20% off. My AD also did not charge me sales tax. FWIW, I think it's the ultimate SS Rolex.

Great watch I hope for that to be my next rolex to round out the collection.. As far as price I get 15% from my AD, looks like you got 20%. . I guess the 3 day pre owned is worth an extra 5% off

Great price, great watch...
You should have discussed warranty with the Dealer.. Likely that if you need warranty work and take it back to them, they will take care of any issues..

Congrats! Fair price as that's what you probably would have paid with a trusted dealer.

Congrats on your new watch as that is the Explorer II choice I would make for myself...really like the white dial face. As for price, now I know these watches are not inexpensive, but as long as you are pleased and happy with your watch...that's all that really matters. Enjoy your new watch!!!
Take it easy.....Leo

Great watch!
I'd like to see a similar pic with the lume...but with the 24-hour hand viewable.

Great watch. Congrats.
Should you have any issues with the watch during the 2 yr manufacturers warranty send the watch to the Dallas RSC and they will repair it. That RSC considers the warranty going with the watch and not the owner. |
