AD Horror Stories
What's the worst experience you've ever had with an AD? Mine was the time I tried throwing money at them for a pressure test and they refused even though they had all the equipment to do a full servicing .

None. Mainly because I would never buy from an AD, to some people's horror. LOL

No horror story yet...........just the sheer terror of not being able to resist adding another Rolex and then trying to explain how that happened to my wife!!

No horror stories. Just usual sales tactics; buy now before they raise the price next week, we're not allowed to discount, lack of knowledge, etc. I would not buy from an AD but they are a good place to try on different pieces and sometimes have a good conversation.

Not a horror story but I was in a DC area AD a couple weeks ago and took my wife's engagement ring in to see if I could get it appraised to update the insurance policy. They couldn't do it. So while I was there I asked if they minded if I tried on the 42mm Exp II. The salesman allowed me to but the whole time treated me as if I had bad body odor or something. I was dressed nicely and was wearing my GMT II so it wasn't as if I looked like a bum or anything. His snobby attitude was very much a turn off to me and I would not have purchased there.

Being served Perrier with ice made from tap water.
Where are we, in Mogadishu? These are not Evian cubes of ice. |

I have a feeling there will be some stories since this thread was first posted in 2013! AD's attitudes seem to have changed somewhat since the explosion of the SS sports models!
Mine isn't much of a horror story, but when I called into a local AD to enquire about a 1.5 link for my jubilee bracelet, I was told "there's no such thing, anything you have seen online will not be genuine Rolex as they don't make any other size links" I telephoned another local AD the following day and was told they could have me one next day. |

I've purchased from three different AD's, and all were great experiences.

When I gave the AD $6,500 for a new Air King and 15 months later he offered me $3,500 when I wanted a less confusing dial like on a 216570.

My AD sold me watches that I wanted, Hulk, SD43, Sub, GMT RG but at the grey market rates right from the store. They were all watches kept ion the vault. I paid the prices because I wanted those models squeaky new with my name on the cards and receipts but I still felt it was shady. Especially after I bought a solid gold sub at msrp-10%. But like my tag line says, "something is worth what we are willing to pay". Just goes to show all the high demand watches are in the AD vault for the asking.

Since I entered my local Rolex Boutique in 2018 all I had from them was respect, honesty, incredible attention and fast deliveries.
