A little meat smoking on a Sunday

Trying out my Fathers Day present today. Started at 6:30am. Smoking a 15 lb pork shoulder and a 5 lb chicken. Beer drinking starts after noon and hopefully coincides with today's Yankee game. Anyone else on the bad aqua today?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371995712.540478.jpg

I think you got the Weber for a present, right? I have one of those and they are great. Let's see some Boston butt (thats what we call the shoulder roast down here) smoked to perfection.

I guess a Yankee fan has no compunction smoking some Boston butt, right?

When using ours, we often finish the day (after the meat is done) by lifting the lid, removing the cylinder stack, and dropping some split hickory and oak onto the coals for a suburban campfire to make 'smores...

That looks great! I haven't had a smoker in years, but this makes me want to get another.
Oh, that's right, I'm on a diet. Damn!

The game stunk but the BBQ as good. The pork had a nice smoke ring and both had a vey nice smokey flavor. It was exhausting! Looking forward to trying a brisket soon. Last pic showing my beer can chicken with some good local beers. Have a great week everyone ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372036519.265164.jpg

Just finished the Sweet Corn, Cheese Burgers and Chicken

Well thought I would post an after shot of the grinds. Still have the artichokes cooking on the stove. Everything was cooked on the BBQ!

Nothing like a BBQ burger in my opinion!

Aloha from Kauai.

Tom

I tried 'smoking' a brisket on my gas grill once - it was an epic failure, and I consider myself to be a pretty good BBQ'er. I think my impatience got the best of me. This thread makes me want to try again, but I'm pretty limited on meat selection here in Germany.

My mouth is watering.. I may have to fire up the Weber tonight. I've wanted to try smoking with my charcoal grill for a while now.
