DOH! Sold it too soon/too cheap! Anyone else been there?

Just saw a Sinn 144 for sale for $2500. Sold mine in 2006 for $600.

Guess I should have waited awhile...

Anyone other tales of missed appreciation?

Cheers!

Matt

I did a double bad. Sold a 210 that is appraising higher and bought a 232 that is tanking!

But somehow, still happy! (Although I still miss/like the 210)

I was just kicking myself last night.

Saw something sell for over $1,000 more than I sold it for a year ago! Ugh. I'm now vowing no more selling :)

I have too many "losses" to even think about it. Lol.

I have sold a number of my own watches low.....sometimes you just want to sell them and move on.

Have I made a number of mistakes in pricing? Yes, most of the time.

I 'lost' a grand when I sold my first GMT, though I wore it for 5 years.

$1000/5 years= $0.55/day, if my math is correct.

The enjoyment was worth the price of admission. :)

And then there were others...

I've bought too soon and for too much.

Seems like whenever I pull the trigger on something a watch pops up that I had originally wanted more and for about what I just spent.

Sure but it's offset by others. Just slightly ahead to date.

Not a while but 7 years! The opportunity cost of waiting that long with something you would rather sell is so high as to render any price increase irrelevant now so don't worry about it.

Sold my Doxa when the Chinese sourced cases were exposed for 800 because I was so disgusted with being duped. These watches still routinely go for $1200+ depending on condition.

I've had some losses over the years, but way ahead of the game overall.

I have not sold anything yet because I am not mentally ready to find out I took a beating! Holding on to watches not being worn regularly does not seem brilliant either. So I guess it's a no win in any case!

If I waited a year before selling my AP 15300 I would have gotten another $2K for it.

Not watch related, but I left my employer back in 2009 to go to a startup. I sold all my stock options at $10-12 (where their post-IPO price was stuck in the doldrums for quite a while).

Several months later, my former company was caught up in a bidding war and sold out to HP for $33.

That was a 6-figure timing error.

I have no regrets. If I had known (impossible), and waited, I'd have missed the opportunity to work for the great company I am with now.

Life is too short for regrets over lost monetary opportunities.
