I don't think you could go wrong either way. And I'm not only saying that because they are the only two that I own, haha. Both look good wether you're in shorts and a tshirt, or in a suit. Great for any occasion.

If I could only have one, it'd be a GMT.

After wearing my sub for over two and a half years, I'd have to agree

Sub for me, but that's because timing with the rotating bezel is a more useful function in my daily life.

I have both. The GMT gets more wrist time. To me functionally the GMT is more versatile as an everyday watch. The GMT bezel can operate as an ET bezel like the Sub for most purposes, plus the TZ feature comes in handy for more than just when you travel (making phone calls to other TZs, knowing the time at the corporate office, tracking another TZ for a sporting event that you want to catch, tracking the time where a family member or friend is). And the 24 hour hand makes it a little easier to use as a compass.

That said, if the function is not that important and you are talking the ceramic models then depending on your lifestyle the brushed CLs on the Sub may make it the better alternative. Also the Sub's adjustability may be better suited if your wrist size is subject to changes and the easylink doesn't quite accommodate this.

IMHO, of course. YMMV.

My response is based on a GMT2c vs. SubC, not a GMT/GMT2.

If it's your only watch daily wearer kind of thing, I would highly suggest Sub. While I think it boils down to personal taste, and even though I don't exactly freak out with scratches on my Rolexes, the GMT2c has the PCL bracelet which shows wear much more easily compared with the brushed bracelet of the SubC. My father's GMT2c looks like it has been through hell and back (which I applaud him for, its his daily wearer that he wears without any concern) while my GMT2 which is older looks much newer, just because of his PCL bracelet. The brushed look hides wear and tear much better IMO.

sub timer can be used every day in every timezone + diving.

gmt fourth hand will not be as useful and versatile for most.

Depends on your use and likes, since both are great iconic Rolex designs. If you travel or like extra complications then the GMT will be the better choice. The sub is a good choice for its ruggedness and more waterproofing. I wear a Sub-c everyday since getting it over a month ago. The GMT Master II will be my second Rolex in the future (after understanding the GMT complication).

I also own both, but the GMT definitely gets more wrist time than the Sub.

+1 Same here. The Sub loves the box. The GMT the wrist.

I would say the sub, but it you want to take it to the next level go with the sea dweller 16600. Best watch I have ever put on.

My choice if I had to choose one would be a SubC date.
