Will Rolex build a Smurf GMTIIC ?
I have been wondering if Rolex will build a Smurf GMTIIC.
They build the cases/bracelets in white gold already... They can make the GMTII bezel in all blue if they wanted to..and certainly match a dial to it.. I would expect that the GMT hand would have to be all white - which would look great... If a member could photoshop such a model - it would be interesting to review.. Thoughts? I wonder if Rolex has a Frankenworks studio where they build and review such possibilities before they go through some type of review process, and then to market... |

I don't think so. They will make a Pepsi GMT IIC instead, in either SS or WG or both.

I'll photoshop one up for fun, but I doubt they'll ever make one. Stand by...

Hmm well I love it of course! But personally I think the 24 hour GMT Hand would need to be something different than white... But I could be wrong.

doubt it - the smurf world has its own problems as it is - i would think that the GMT will stick with the new design with very little variation

I don't know about a "Smurf" version, but a WG GMT would be pretty cool. I'd be interested to see them bring the champagne and slate serti dials back. Check that. I'm considering adding a champagne serti to the drawer so maybe I wouldn't want them to come out with a current version after all.

It looks awesome, but I agree, it's hard to tell on the fly where the 24hr hand is... It doesn't stick out unlike GMT models of past and present.

Sure, I'll do a version with red lettering and GMT hand tonight. And an all-brushed bracelet.

Unfortunately not.... Lets think.....how many variations have they done over the course of this model's 50+ years? Chances of a trendy smurf version seem slim. Seems they would be better putting their resources towards a Pepsi if anything and leave the smurf to the wg sub...... Imho

DCheeta great job on the PS!
I think it looks cool especially because a WG Sub exists and it gives this piece immediate status. Will they do it? Who knows... |

Personally I think an orange hand and GMT lettering would be awesome!!!, But we wouldn't want Rolex copying Omega on that would we... Of course blue and orange are complements I think, so it would make since... Interesting to say the least!

The more I see the Smurf, the more I want to get one. I need to stop looking at this thread! A GMT Smurf would be awesome.

Unlikely, but if they made a WG for a diver then they really should for a pilot's.

Of course not but I did what any other curious guy would have done and picked up the phone and called Rolex in Geneva. I asked to speak to the manager in charge of development and they connected me with Mr. Henckel Trocker who told me. |

The Photoshop mock-up looks pretty good, but I kind of think that Rolex would reserve that look for the Sub Date.

No!! Another gold sports watch for me to get!
You can get a YG watch with black dial & bezel in both models. Maybe we'll see a WG GMT next year as a sequel to BLNR? |
