which should I keep, 233 spot dial, or 028 limited edition, need help
I am the happy owner of two special Pams, the 233 K version spot dial, which is the last and most reliable of spot dials, and the 2009 special edition Pam 028, limited to 1000 pieces, I got both brand new never used for a good price, 8200 euros for the 233 and 7200 euros for the 028, but I won't be able to keep both, so I need some help from you guys to make up my mind, as one of them will be in a safe so that it is brand new when I sell it, which won't be in the near future, but when I do I'll be sure to talk about it here.
This first link is to the Pam 028 on panerai's website http://www.panerai.com/images/prodot...M028_FRONT.jpg The back is plain as you can see on panerai's site, so nothing special there, movement is a soprod, which basically is an ETA movement with the soprod module for power reserve added, good movement but from what I understand Panerai didn't do anything to it as decoration or improvement. Here you have the photos for the 233 "spot dial", in all 4500 where produced before they passed to the new AM/PM, which I like much less, of course I ordered custom straps for them but won't get them before 3 weeks. Of course no need to talk here about the caliber which is panerai's first, with 8 days power reserve, GMT, date, seconds on the left, and of course the "spot". And the crystal back is nice to admire the movement. To be honest I love both of them, even if they are very different, the only thing I regret on the 028 is that it has "normal" seconds and absolutely not the Panerai second zone, but since they did this special edition to pay tribute to the 028a and 028b which were like this it's normal. On the 233 I regret that they made the GMT arrow and "fang" in black like this, metal in a different color would have been nice, but appart from this they are both great watches. What are your thoughts on originality, design, price increase with time, will 028 be one of these special editions that will raise in value substantially or not? Thanks in advance for all your thoughts on the subject. |
