Scraped my GMTIIc bezel against fridge door handle!!!
Title says it all. I hadn't noticed but I must have been doing this for a while. Went to look at my watch and I saw all this white residue built up on my bezel and crown. I rushed to clean it up and survey the damage and the results may shock you... Rolex may claim to have 'scratch proof' ceremic bezels but see for yourself.
Here's a picture of the residue that accumulated on the crown and bezel. I must have been doing this for weeks without knowing it. And now the aftermath.... As you can see the fridge door handle is badly damaged. The scrape on the very bottom is quite deep, the picture doesn't quite show it. I'm dreading the cost of how much it will be to possibly have the handle repaired or replaced completely. I should have considered putting a protective plastic film around it like people do with their phones or buying insurance for my door handles and anything else that may come in contact with my watch... Oh the watch? It's fine... Bezel, insert, crown and all |

Poor fridge design. They don't make them like they used to. Glad your watch is ok!

Hilarious. While we are on the topic...maybe it is time for some new glasses! You scratched your rolex on the fridge that hard for an extended period of time and did not notice! You must like beer more than me!

I'd take the door handle to a master door handler and have it repaired at the least. Dont forget to have it polished while you're at it!

No matter the material if one is softer than the other it will scratch even with ceramic and yes even those will scratch, chip, and shatter.

Happy that your watch is okay, curious if you'll hit it next time you go for leftovers now that you know what you've been doing.

Probably cheaper to replace the fridge than the bezel insert...

Make sure when you get your fridge fixed you use genuine fridge parts. otherwise you will end up with a frankenfridge and will lose your warranty.

Send it to FDHSC (Fridge Door Handle Service Center) and have it polished or live with it...it adds character...
