Sea Dweller: Strap Options

I know there are many haters on here of NATO Straps and to some extent I can understand why, but it is worth remembering that the Sea Dweller is a tool watch and there is a reason that NATO's are used out in the field...so don't judge chaps. It is a shame that Rolex don't make top quality NATO straps though.

Pictures of different options attached, please cast your vote! And there is even an option for NATO Haters!

1) Rolex SS Bracelet
2) Black Ops NATO
3) Brown Leather NATO
4) Tan Leather NATO

I don't see a need to limit one's options to one - I rotate between several NATO, a Rubber B and the bracelet...

If anything, I'm less thrilled with leather NATO but all others you listed are a win

I could'nt vote for just one. Much like "Traveller" I feel variety is the spice of life. Of course nothing beats the original Oyster bracelet, but Natos, Everest, Rubber B, and leather are all good options to have, although the leather Natos make the SD sit too high imho.

Rubber b, Everest, or NATO is you must have a strap. I personally believe that rolex sports models are probably THE one watch that belongs on bracelet.

What is a top quality Nato strap one that cost a few hundred $$$£££ Rolex used to sell one although not Rolex made they did charge Rolex prices.Today most so called Nato watch straps are based on the ones issued by by the British Ministry of Defense (MOD).One of the main reasons it got its NATO name is because the strap had originally a NSN or NATO Stock number and these were very cheaply made and fully disposal and just meant to be cut of wrist if needed quickly .And then the actual military spec strap came in only one colour only, and that was Admiralty pale dull colour Grey, the buckles were then just plated brass. But today most buckles are S.steel and you can pay quite stupid prices for some so called Admiralty Nato straps if you believe what some web sites state. And will add I have used my SD watches as working tools and they were fine on the bracelet that came with the watch.I have used and often abused it with well over 600 logged hours underwater both fresh and salt and felt no need to change to a NATO or any other strap. Nato straps are just that meant to be used and fully disposable if need after use, but NATOs are fine if you just want a change from bracelet. But IMHO Rolex watches always look better with the bracelet that came with the watch.

needless to say I think Padi called it right and my conclusion remains the same.

Putting a cheap disposable nylon strap on a Rolex IMHO is the fastest , most cost effective way to make it look c__p. Never ever seen one that looks anything else. If for a practical application then great...if doing it for 'looks' then I think it doesn't work.

Every one to there own though so enjoy.

I see I am in the vast minority here, but I'm going to vote for the tan strap. It is amazing!

And I'm not even a NATO fan...

I would say a top quality NATO would one to the mod specs exactly like Phoenix makes AND in longer length to fit slightly larger wrists sizes. They can always be cut and burned down to size. they just fit the watches' legacy as a temporary add on to be worn for a particular task. It was the history of wristwatches for men that they were worn in the first place in hot humid weather supposedly the story goes. The ones from Asia are alright but the previously mentioned ones have a finer weave and to my eye at least look and feel nicer although I know some of you prefer the softer ones.

How about a nice suede strap? For me much prefer suede/leather straps over NATO's and standard bracelet. Gives it a great look and super comfortable! Also really changes it up from plain old look which to me is boring! To each is own though so have at it....Cheers,

Remember, NATOs serve a very important function IMHO. I don't go diving without one.

I like bracelets on rolex sport models so much, that I just purchased a SubC Glidelock bracelet for my 16710. Don't think I could wear the nato.
