I'd appreciate your expert eye and advice on this early GMT I have seen on eBay and not too far away from me:

Earlier this year I saw a mint later 1675 on correct dated bracelet, original hands/dial and not over polished at a London dealers for £5k which leaves me to believe this is overpriced @ £4,200 (or £4,900 in the store)

My concern is:

Possible later dial or re-lumed as this is a very early 1675?
Plexiglass has moved not sitting over date window?
Later bracelet
Lugs rebevelled?
Despite 'one owner' there is no history at all?
Obviously a new bezel insert which doesn't worry me

I may go and take a look to see if I can broker a deal to swap my '90s Exp II and cash

From my point of view is overpriced...the watch is beautiful, but I have the exact same concerns as yours. If they do not worry you go for a deal breaker. I believe 3,5 to 3,7k - sterling pounds is fair for this watch...

Agree. If the plexi is off line I cant believe any decent repairer would leave it like that.

Does nothing for me either. I'm new to vintage stuff but this just doesn't look right to me, it looks too new and doesn't seem to have any character at all.
I have been looking at the one in Wales which is double the price of this one but at least it looks right, even if the price isn't right! haha

Yes seen that one and it looks fantastic. But the price is way way over even London Arcade prices

The dial could have been replaced or it could be original based on the serial number. The case back would shed more light on dating the watch. It has the small 24-hour hand like those found on the gilt watches. It also has several Rolex replacement parts on the watch.

Value is in the eye of the beholder! If the price is right though, why not?

Yes, I've asked for his best price and he said £7,300 but that would only include one bracelet. He isn't really up for much more in the way of negotiation, he keeps going on about how you'll never see or find another like it. I suppose that he's going to be keeping it for a while.

Chums, I took a look at the watch today. We couldn't come to a deal as I was not willing to accept the price to change against my Exp II.

On the whole it looks OK. Plexi is definitely offset a few degrees past the date window. Plus shouldn't these have an 'open 6'? It didn't. Patina of hands/dial very good and match well. Bezel insert too new creating a stark contrast. Mechanism smooth to wind. Watch has a story regarding previous owner but no provenance. Owners initial engraved on the case back.

The cash offer was reasonable but meant selling my Exp II privately (which could easily see me getting £500 more than the exchange deal) but I wanted a simple swap. Plus factoring in the limitations of this watch in the vintage market its value will always be constrained.

a small-GMT arrow 1675 like that should probably have a riveted bracelet, no? and it just has to be re-lumed.
