1957 Airking Blue Dial

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum and new to Rolex ownership. I have been researching/searching for quite a while to both decide on a model and to find one. I ended up purchasing my Air King and I am quite happy with it. I have a few questions about it though, firstly it struck me as somewhat unique with the blue dial for a 11xxxxx serial number could anyone let me know if that is true? Also would it be considered a 5500? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Mark

Looks like it's from the early 60's to me...

If the case is really from 1957 then at least the dial, bracelet, and hands are later replacements. The serials reset in the mid 50s so I'd say this watch is more likely from 1964 which would be consistent with a 1.1m serial. Confused yet? Haha

All in all, your watch is from 1964, not 1957. A 5500 from '57 will look totally different.

The dial isn't rare. There are rare 5500 AK dials but this isn't one. Very nice watch though
