Need help identifying Submariner bezel insert
I am looking for some help identifying an old/faded submariner bezel.
I believe this part is bezel insert that would fit any 1680/5512/5513/7928 watch. However, as a test I tried to set it on top of my existing bezel insert on my 1680 submariner from 1977, but it doesn't fit all the down flush on my existing bezel. I believe this means that it would not fit if I removed my existing bezel insert and attempted to install this faded one. My 1680 was restored by Rolex USA approx 5 years ago, with a new crystal, hands, etc... The other item that doesn't add up is that the pearl dot seems larger than the ones I've seen on vintage 7928's, etc... I would appreciate any advice as to what I have here...This bezel has a nice even fade on it...

insert...
Thanks for the response. I agree that the pearl dot looks like the ones I've seen on 16800's bezel inserts, but here is the puzzling aspect that I forgot to mention. I compared this bezel insert to my friend's loose Submariner 16800 bezel, my faded one is definitely 2 mm smaller and felt thinner than the 16800 bezel.
I will do more research on this... thanks, Al

Yep, newer insert for a sapphire model. Probably came on a 16800 or 16610 originally.

Plus measurement can be skewed by wear, dirt & how flat the insert is. the back as well as pearl surround is the give a way on these. Note the "step" on the back that is not same as a 1680/5513 etc. And not saying it won't fit as many do depending on wear of the bezel itself and the insert. I have seen all sorts of things that fit or made to fit but still not correct :-) regards, M

Definitely for a sapphire sub. You can actually see the teeth outline from the bezel ring on the back side image.
