SS Daytona or YG older Daytona (Zenith)?
Hi TRF members!
New to TRF and wanted to ask you guys a question: Would you rather have a SS (F116520) Daytona with a white face or a Yellow Gold Zenith Daytona (S16528) with a black face? The reason I ask is because my father is a watch collector and will be splitting his collection between my brother and I. But being the eldest, I get first dibbs, but obviously do not know which one to ask for. While instinct tells me that the solid gold should be worth more in the future (being made of a precious metal), the current market has them pretty close in price. And yes, I tried asking for both, but he said that my brother has to get one of them. Thanks guys! |

Market price shouldn't matter..do you plan on selling your father's watches? Personally I'd take YG, as I'm rather partial to the color.

The 116520 is still in production, and can be purchased at a future date if yo decide you want one whereas the 16528 is no longer in production and will be harder, and more expensive to find in the future. I personally like the YG with black dial. Best of Luck. Bob

Welcome to TRF!
I'd go for the YG "Zenith" Daytona. Although it is mostly the SS "Zenith" Daytonas that have risen drastically in price since they were discontinued, YG and TT "Zenith" Daytonas are increasingly sought-after, too. Besides that, the YG Daytona with black face is a stunning combination. Remember to post pics of the watch you choose!

What makes you think the Cal. 4130 is superior to the "Zenith" Cal. 4030??
I'd say they're equally good! Both are very different, but still both the best you can/could buy!

Market value is not the issue here. You are going to inherit something that your Father worked damn hard to get and you are interested in the material value!
Hope your Father doesn't read this post, he might just change his will. Imagine how he would feel knowing this?

YG because it's a better bar watch.
Step one: Lean back Step two: Put your arm somewhere all of the ladies can see it Step three: get mugged for your yg watch Seriously, YG just feels better to wear imo. It's heavier, it gets more attention and it just feels good on your skin. It makes me happy when I wear YG watches. |
