No Date Sub.
Is there any reason aside from price that one would buy a no date sub? Maybe its a sign you have an extraordinary memory?

The Submariner is more pure and true to the original design than the Submariner Date. I bought the 14060M because it is my generation's version of the original Submariner. It is the most aesthetically pleasing design to me.

Personally I think the no date version looks better.

The no date is nearly symmetrically perfect which is actually quite rare. For an OCD individual like me who really notices and pays attention to small details like that, the No date sub is extremely aesthetically pleasing, and significantly more so than the dated version.

I find a lot of dateless watches very nice and the 14060 is one of them, I like the Submariner Date as well but if I had to choose I believe I'd probably go with the original one.

For me, the decision to go No Date (14060) over Date (16800) was not just an aesthetic one. Almost every Sub I come across out there in the world is a Date Sub, and I like having the more 'rare' piece. I even had a guy argue with me over it last summer: he was adamant that all (read: ALL) Rolex Submariners have the date & Cyclops. I guess he was calling mine a fake....I guess. |

If I were to purchase again I'd go no-date also.

If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand.
That's why Rolex makes the Submariner and the Submariner Date. Rolex doesn't make a Submariner without a date. Rolex makes a Submariner with a date.

Rolex does indeed make a Submariner without a date (complication) and many, like me, prefer it for it's clean simple looks. Also, my eyesight ain't what it used to be so I can barely read the date anyway.

I do consider the looks of a watch a lot before buying or letting one pass as I figure that it is what I will notice the most on it. It's not the only thing I look at but I must think about the aesthetics of a watch at least a bit as I'm not the type to buy a watch I don't like... However, although I haven't written it in my post I must say I like the way you think, a lot of watches I bought (even the simplest ones) had that little something that made them unique and different (even if it's only a tad) when compared to other similar models. When it comes to the Submariner, the date is nice but I must agree with you, the 14060 (and others alike, of course) has a little something more unique, especially nowadays with all the Rolex with dates we see. There's nothing wrong with a cyclops on a watch, my Datejust has one and the Day-Date, another one of my must-have's, as well but since those offer that complication and since I find them very beautiful with them I know I would rather go with a Submariner that doesn't have one.

Holy smokes, here we go again!
I bought mine because I had a DateJust and wanted a sports watch, a classic piece, but a cleaner, more simple look.

To me the Sub just looks cleaner than the Sub Date.

Baskin Robbins has 31 flavor because everybody likes something different. Watches are the same. Buy what YOU like and that's that.
