Help me identify my first wristwatch (1962)?
Hi, All,
I was recently thinking about my first watch, given to me as a 6th birthday present in January, 1962. The watch is long gone, but I would love to find out what make and model it was! The watch was designed to be a child's first watch, intended to help him learn how to tell time. The watch was very plain, and rather "grownup" looking compared to the silly, colorful kids' watches sold today. The watch was very plain. It had a stainless steel (I assume) case with a light gray(?) dial. The hour hand was white and the minute hand was blue. The hour numbers were printed on the dial in white, and there were tiny blue "minute" numbers around the edge of the dial in blue. There was a small rectangle graphic printed on the face, that looked like a French flag (three vertical bars, red, white and blue left to right). Printed on the face in small red letters was "THE TIME IS". The idea was that you would say "The time is" (red), then look at the white hour number and hand, then read the blue hand and number to read the time. Anyone know what kind of watch this was? Thanks!
