Friendly Encounter

Today while finishing up my meal at a local McDonald's, the man sitting behind me stopped by my table and asked how old my Sub was and if it was a 5513 as he suspected. I informed him that it was indeed and was from 1968. He then went on to tell me that he bought one in 1970 on his way to Vietnam. He said that he was shot, but the bullet hit the clasp and left only a two-ish inch long scar on his wrist from the shattered clasp. The watch fell into the rice paddy and was never found. Years later he bought a sub date and wore it for many years before giving it to his son before deployment to Afganistan. He said he would rather fly under the radar in his older age.

His story was very touching to me and I wanted to share it with you all.
