Hi,
Sean is about right with his estimate on price from a dealer, but you should be able to get it a little cheaper privately. Good luck with the deal and hopefully you can join our little band of 1655 owners on TRF |

Depending on variant and condition I've seen asking prices from 16K loose to pushing 30K complete.

Thanks for the speedy responses and sharing your thought's. The price of this model seem's to fluctuate between £8.5k to £17.5k in the UK, and I was quoted £20k for the exact model last week from a well known dealer in London. I understand the condition, with or without papers and service history all have an impact on the end price, but there does not seem to be a recognised guide price for Explorer 2's, Submariner & Sea Dweller Comex model's.... thought's?

Who sells the watch? Can you have it authenticated BEFORE paying for it?

I've seen people selling an authentic 24 hour bezel for the 1655 Orange hand Explorer II for over $2000 USD. And that's just the bezel!

I would have said $15K but I'm cheap so add a few $K and you are probably good

I track them weekly as I'm thinking about selling mine. They are around $17K US for average condition and around $20K - $24K with papers and great condition. Here is a chart I posted last month.

Thanks for posting this - very interesting. I guess if the rumours (Rolex releasing a GMT Orange Hand at Basel 2008) are true, the price of the 1655 will go through the roof!

Can we get a clearer shot of the dial? Is it just me or do the T's on the bottom of the dial look like I's?

I have my 1655 in with RWC in UK for a service at the moment. The dealer who is handling it has just got back to me with the quotation from Rolex.
They say that on top of the £240 service charge they want an extra £40 because it is an old model and that they recomend a new bezell, at £80, as the old one is missing some paint. What do my fellow forumeers make of that... |

Secondly...the RWC in UK has accepted your 1655 for service...which means your watch is genuine to begin with. Thirdly...you are in possession of a Rolex which could potentially be worth anything from 8,000 Pounds to 15,000 Pounds in the resale market...paying those amount to RWC to revive it to its original brilliant conditions...should be of a very little concern to you right now. |

Questions
Thanks for the info. Questions:
-My bracelet/band, where the Rolex engraving is, has a number 4 with a 71 right below it. Would this mean that the watch was manufactured in april 1971? - I've serviced it throughout the years and the only things I have replaced are the glass and in 1994, the the ring with the 24 Hour markings. I imagine as with a vintage automobile, the more original the better, but what things would detract from it's value if replaced? regards, Rodrigo PS Why doesn't my signature picture appear if its less than 500 by 100 and is 15 kb? |

Pete:
I would refuse the new bezell. And absolutely don't let them touch your dial or hands!!! As for the service - that sounds reasonable. |
