My dad purchased a Rolex in 1962 or so when he was in the Navy. I grew up seeing him wear it. 51 years later and now it's mine. My first Rolex but definitely not my last :).

Bought a SS Sub in about 1986 and it was $1795 after a 20% discount. My step son wears it now. I wear a Hulk now and it'll probably be the last watch I'll have unless it gets lost, stolen or destroyed somehow. ( although, never say never!!)

My grandfather gave me his 1966 5513 when I was 14 ('89). I never wore it, in fact I tossed it in a dresser drawer(in a jewelry box) and forgot about it until I was moving out of my folks house and into my first apartment right out of college ('97). I remembered he gave me the watch, and asked my parents to hold onto it for me because I sure as hell didn't want to wear it (it wasn't "cool" to me back then). It wasn't until about 6-7 years ago that I really started getting into watches and I bought myself a new sub. Needless to say, the 5513 and my new sub made for a cool fledgling collection. I have since parted with the 5513, but no I didn't sell it. Since my grandfather is retired and sold off his collection to fund other necessities for he and grandma, I had the watch serviced and completely restored last year (maintaining the beautiful original dial and natural patina) and gave it back to my grandfather for his 85th birthday last year. More than 45 years after the day he bought it, he was reunited with the first watch he ever bought. He was thrilled.
