why I'm keep doing this - another daytona thread
hi guys,
first of all just to say happy new year to everyone, it's such a great forum and i've learnt so many things from you guys last year. here is my short story. 3 years ago i bought my first white gold daytona panda dial 116509, which i'm still in love with it. 6 months later a guy made me an offer which was hardly to resist at the time for about 1000usd profit, so i sold it and i missed it ever since. last year i bought a brand-new tt daytona panda dial 116523 and thought that would be it, i'm not going to sell it or buy any new watches anytime soon. however again after 6 months, i sold it and made 1000usd loss. the main reason is the bezel is simply too easy to get scratched despite being extremely careful.the bezel will scratch just from wiping it with a cloth. There is NO WAY to avoid scratches other than keeping it in a safe for the rest of its life. so I told myself that is it, daytona is out of my watch collections for good. a week ago, a friend of mine working for the ad offered me a brandnew black ss daytona with irresistible offer. I am living in HK right now, black daytona is very hard to come by especially with good price. so here i am, i made the purchase and i love it. :) what about the scratch magnet bezel, well i guess i'll get used to it. here are some photos guys, enjoy. |

Congrats. Hate bezel scratches. But still love the Daytona!
Enjoy it.

Congratulations on re-acquiring a classic.
Enjoy it and try not to worry about the scratches. Mine is only a few days old as well and while I haven't seen any visible scratches, it's also probably because I'm no longer looking for them! Inevitable of course. But as many have said here on the forum, it adds character. |

Enjoy again! My Daytona purchased new in November has some minor scratches probably just from wiping it down with the cloth. I just don't look for them anymore :-)

Beautiful Daytona. Seems like the solution for you would be a Daytona with a ceramic bezel. They most likely will make one for the SS model at some point in the future.

You should have kept the Panda...........it doesn't get much better than that dial.

The way I look at it, if I watch is susceptible to scratches, that's the way it's supposed to look. A Daytona bezel should show some wear if it's worn. Not wearing a watch you own doesn't make any sense to me. I'm a watch lover, not a collector.

I have the same watch, I find the PCLs scratch way more easily than the bezel.

The bezel doesn't really scratch with a normal cloth does it? That would make it almost un-buyable.
