ROO longevity?

It seems whenever a thread about the ROO pops up there are always more than a few comments which seem to lend itself to say that these massive steel watches should be almost pampered. I have never had the pleasure of handling a ROO but I have had a couple RO's and although stunning finish still built like a tank. I really want a ROO but I would want to wear it as I would wear any rolex sport model. I know there are you guys out there who actually wear these things all the time right :) I mean these things are meant to last for the long haul no?? Otherwise, I would find it hard that so many people would shell out that kind of cash for a luxury sports watch that would be nice to look at but not very robust. Anyone care to share there how their ROO has held up to the test of time?

Well APs are high luxury so maybe they can't always be treated quite the same as a Rolex, however altho the steel bezels and cases will mark up over time, there are now a lot of ceramic, FC and rubber options which will help protect the watch a lot better. And after a few years you can always have everything polished up like new. AP say the lines will be maintained even after 3 or 4 polishes so that's plenty of years for it to live.

It would hold up just fine mechanically, it's just that normal wear and tear on a high-end watch would be painful...I see some scratches on my Sub and no big deal. I would hate seeing scratches on my APs.

My nicer watches are like nice cars...they come out to play in nice weather and for pleasure. Just cause someone has a Ferrari/Lambo and they have shelled out the cash for it doesn't mean it's a great idea to daily drive it (especially in the weather we have had!!)

I've had no problem wearing my 44FC daily. If you have a relatively normal lifestyle, no hard labour etc..I don't think there would be a problem.

My ROO RC is a 2006 model and has been on my wrist regularly the whole time (3or 4 days per wk), zero issues. Rubber bez is very durable no rips or tears to report, edges have rounded off slightly and bez and strap are noticeably more shiny.

My RC hasn't been serviced yet. It is overdue but is running fine. Service in the uk is circa £900 (without any refinishing or new bez) so I am gonna hold of a little longer. I find the old JLC movement to be very reliable - had zero issues with it.
Have recently put it on a diver strap and tang, and it wears very comfortably on this.

I wore mine daily for about 6 months and working on construction sites (no hard labour though) means it get's the regular scrapes and dings. It ran well other than the problem of running fast which started since the day of purchase. I'd say it would hold up to daily use (not severe abuse though).

Nothing beats the feel of an AP on the wrist - such great presence.

Just deal with any minimal issues and wear happily.

I definitely feel as though if you want daily wear with daily abuse, once you get past the first few dings you'll be ok with steel.

However, I'd go forged carbon if you're really worried. The extra price is worth the peace of mind.

I think the ROO series is very rugged.

The ROC so and so... The chrono pushers are a bit flimsy when not screwed down.
