Icon7 I got the Last One! PANASONIC TC-P60ZT60

If you are an electronics buff you will like this. Went into Best Buy yesterday to take in my new Pioneer Elite BDP-62FD Blu-Ray Player as it was not performing properly.

I figured I would look at the new plasma technology as my Pioneer Elite "Kuro" PRO-101FD 50" is getting older but still was the top plasma on the market before they shut down the line because it was very costly to manufacture and the price point was high resulting in slow sales. A bunch of the engineers that were at Pioneer went to Panasonic to expand on the Pioneer technology and build a better plasma. Well they did!

http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-t...-35567247.html

They were SOLD OUT at Best Buy and they showed (1) 60" unit on hold for a customer who had not picked it up in over 30 days. The Manager said if you want it, it's yours. So I bought it on the spot! Panasonic is shutting down production of this line now for similar reason as Pioneer and focusing on the new OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) technology. http://www.oled-info.com/oled-tv WOW! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=8G3wWmtkN88

I am excited to get this new TV installed in my home theater and have it calibrated after I burn it in for 200-300 hours.

I have an Elite (the model right before the Kuro came out) that was purchased in 2007, I believe? To be honest, the picture quality is still damn good and I have no need to replace it. Yes, it's a bit bulky, generates a lot of heat and could use another HDMI port (or two), but the picture quality is still there.

I have a lowly Samsung plasma in my theater room that I got on closeout at Costco for $1,149.00

We had actually purchased the VT series Panasonic and had to cancel a delivery order when I saw the Costco deal at $1,800 cheaper.

The Samsung is well below the Panasonic for sure and I still lust after the VT.

Even my cheap plasma looks better than most every LED/LCD I have seen to date.

I really hope the OLED's get up to the same level as the plasma's at a competitive price point before I need a new set.

Great set. To me plasma is the best. I bought the 65vt last year and absolutely love it and I also have a pio elite kuro which is also fantastic. Congrats.
