I bet many don't know that Rolex has changed the blue color on the Bluessy's again.

In the 90's they used a "softer" and lighter blue. Then, and I don't know which year, they started using a darker iridescent one that changes color from almost black to a deep cobalt color. My favorite!

Now, they have switched back to one that looks more like the early 90's one. What the heck did they go and do that for?

So, are you like me and prefer the darker, deeper character version or do you like the softer flatter blue?

I have a feeling the dark version is going to win by a landslide which makes me wonder why would Rolex change one of their most popular watches color?

Wouldn't you think they would do some kind of consumer research before making a change like this? It's not like they can't afford to do a simple survey.

Yep, since mine is the darker blue, and I've seen both, I have to vote for the darker blue. Very tasteful!!!

We'll have to compare David. I think mine is pretty dark and it's less than a year old (according to mfr code on clasp).

I am not sure which series switched colors but I know the "M" is lighter and could have done it with the "Z's" at some point. Pictures can even be a little deserving in that the background lighting plays a big part in an image but if you see them side by side, it is quite a difference. It is hard to capture the iridescence effect of the darker blue in a picture.

I don't want anyone to feel bad or slighted by my comparison either. It's not that I think the new color is bad, I am just surprised Rolex would change such a success so I wanted to see if I am the only one who felt this way.

A new Bluessy is an awesome watch and I would still buy one today if I didn't have mine!

I think they may have been responding to comments from some owners that they were having problems reading the gold text on the darker dial. So, they lightened the dial and darkened the text.

I've never had a problem with that, personally. After I get home today (at work now, and can't post photos), I will post a wrist shot of my Bluesy that catches the great iridescent effect of the darker blue dial.

Guys this story is getting very confusing to me... I had the chance to compare a D, a Z and an M series model at my AD last week. The shade was same on all three of them. There were differences at the fonts and portion of gold around minute markers but not in color. Are you sure it is not just the lighting that makes the dial look different???????
This is my TT blue sub under different light in three pics. Could anyone tell which dial is this? M 19xxxxx series....

There definitely was a color change but I am not sure when they did it. My AD had a "M" in and when compared next to mine, big difference. The new one was a few shades lighter lighter and lacked the as much of the iridescent effect.

No David, not "vintage" in THAT context.

Vintage, as in just the year it was made. Webster defines the word vintage to include:

a: a period of origin or manufacture <a piano of 1845 vintage>
b: length of existence : age

Yes, I'm pretty sure it has the darker blue.

Here is a crappy cell phone pic I took at my AD. On the left is my older Z with the dark hue. On the right is a new later Z with the lighter dial. Everyone at my AD was shocked by the color difference.

I don't believe that the lighter shade was a permanent change. I've seen a light Z series, and I now own an M series with the dark blue dial. There may habe been some variances in the manufacturing process...
