Vintage Daytona?

Even if some of this watch was Franken, would you buy it?

I personally wouldn't touch it until he would meet an verify that it is genuine. To be honest I think there are to many holes in this case for sale. Won't meet face to face His only guarentee that it is genuine, is his word!

He bought an Alpha chrono on Jan 24 and resold it on Feb 19.

No history of high end watch sales or purchases, a wheeler dealer in low end stuff.

The fact that he outright denies personal pick-up is a deal-breaker, I mean before even looking at the item or his history.
Also sellers that harp on about scammer buyers ring alarm bells for me.

Don't know enough about the watch to comment.

'100% original or 200% refund' could be reassuring I suppose, to some people, but how would one enforce anything like that?

No. No-no-no-no-no.

It's also not a Paul Newman dial..

Just having opposite colored subdials does not a Newman make..

They need to also have the correct markings, and that one does not..

I have exchanged a few emails with him, and he won't give me a cell number etc. Just discuss via email.

I told him my concerns with that watch as well as the fact that even from those pics, the dial has a number of issues, not to mention the bezel. However, the bezels on these were often changed by the AD's of the day to suit customers requests (ahh.....the good ol' days).

He advised me that he would end the auction as he has sold it to a local collector for $15,000. It would be taken off ebay soon.

Well, $15k for a $30k+ watch................hmmmmm

Anyway, I'm sure all will turn out fine in the end!

This is obviously a scam, I mean if the watch was genuine he could probably go to any AD in the world and get cash in hand for this rare piece, instead of dealing with scambay, paypal, and more BS. The seller could have copied those photos from anywhere, I personally would only purchase a high value watch on ebay, if I could complete the deal face to face.
