Is Rolex a public company or privately held?
Does anyone know if Rolex shares are traded anywhere? If they are privately held, are there publicly listed major investors?

I know they are private.
I believe they are pretty much non-profit. As in, hey give away what they make, not that they don't profit! |

Nobody knows- they're 1. Private and 2. In Switzerland so they don't have to divulge where the money goes I believe.

I really can't imagine any stock that would be affected either way because of the Rolex price increase. |

Rolex SA is solely owned by the Wilsdorf Foundation.
Wilsdorf apparently done this to keep Rolex independant and free from industry buy outs. It can never be openly traded on the stock market. Although hugely profitable Rolex I believe is classed as a non profit making organisation, with the money being directly re-invested in to the company and the rest alocated to the foundation for distibution to the charities it supports and sponsorship of sporting events etc....... The only stock that would be affected is Swatch group as lots off people jump the Rolex ship and buy Omega LOL. |

I'd say Richemont too if we can extend this long shot theory.

Read thread regarding Charity. Private company. 100% of profits go to Hans Wilsdorf Foundation where money is distributed to scientific, artistic, musical and athletic endeavors around the world. No big secret. There are thousands of endowments each year all over the world.

If they were public they would legally have to produce accounts hence production numbers to share holders and hence the public. Since this does not happen....

I guess this is a good lesson what shares to buy or not to buy.
Apparently I should not buy...because if the companies that make money are privately held, the ones that I can buy want to make money from my money, so I do not buy loosers like IBM and Coke..LOL |
