Service question
I have a datejust with an after-market diamond dial and crystal (seems to be the consensus from this post: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=341787). I have a few questions about servicing it:
Does Rolex charge for a change to an OEM dial? Will I be able to switch it to a tapestry dial (it's a 1995)? What do they charge for a crystal change? What happens to the dial with the after-market diamonds on it? |

Sure!
If your watch was offered with that dial (as one of the options), it may be possible to make the switch (assuming that they have the part). I do not have a catalogue but some member (Alpino?) should be able to help. Sorry I do not know. It will be confiscated. Probably it is more convenient for you to go with an independent rather than RSC. |

Source what you want then send to Rik for the work.

I agree that you'd be better off finding the dial you want and having someone install it. Then have full service done. But why keep that dial? Maybe best to just make it 100% authentic and let watchmaker breakdown the dial for any value in the stones.
But be prepared to consider the possibility that your dial could have Swarovski crystals vs. diamonds (since it was refinished, nobody really knows).

RSC will charge around 600 for dial and 200 for crystal.

Rolex may also refuse to service the watch because of the aftermarket parts. If they do replace the dial, they will keep the old one. Best follow the advice of the members above and source it yourself and have the watch serviced by someone trusted on the forum. Good luck.
