If you don't have the proper tool, it's going to be very hard! The only suggestion I have would be slightly tapping down the post from the opposite position, but that would mean disassembling the movement again.

Dude The balance stop spring is really tricky and it's not something I can explain without showing you... have you looked to see if youtube shows some watchmaker doing that?

Installed new stud for cam
I was able to tap out the old stud & tap in new Stud for cam & the nut screwed on fine but in the process I lost the spring for cam.?! Rolex instructions for the balance stop spring & the Pallet fork is sparse. Saw youtube of another movement showing the stop spring but not for mine. Try to explain or even just a good picture please...

It's spring break here... I won't be anywhere near watches for at least a whole week!

Maybe you could just send your watch to Venessa and allow her to do it properly and make a living out of it.

Oh I'm Very Sorry
I'm really very sorry Vanessa. Didn't realize that you offered it for free? What a lovely gesture your making. Thank you from the bottom of my ticker. My reason for restoring my watch myself was to "save precious $".
As far as the forum goes, isn't it helpful for others who might have the same problem? So So sorry for wasting your time. |

Oh, you're not wasting my time! I'm glad to be of help! It's kinda fun to read of all the challenges you're having! I wish it was easier to explain the process in writing, but unfortunately this is one of those skills that can only be taught by showing hands on.
That's why the schools only accept maximum 12 student per year! No reason to feel sorry! Sent from my LG-MS770 using Tapatalk

Well I got it in but
Found a blurred photo I took that showed the spring slightly & I installed it but can't figure out what it hooks to? If anything. Question: does the forked end straddle the balance wheel?
Thanks Quote:

Update. (I have to push the balance stop spring back manually)The balance stop spring is installed & moves forward when the stem is pulled out to the 2 positions but the spring does not retract back when the stem is pushed back in. What's missing? I can see the notch in the end of the spring through a hole when the end of the spring moves but what goes in that notch? When I rotate the barrel slightly all wheel run as does the escape but the balance does nothing. Its not binding. What to look for please?
