Straight swap my 16613 for a Pepsi

A local jeweller I know has just bought a 16710 Pepsi and I can do a straight swap. Both watches F serial both boxed with papers. Is it a fair deal for me? I love my bluesy but have a feeling the Pepsi with the launch of the WG could be a good one to have.

A nice Pepsi (boxed and papered) of that era can be had for about US$5,500. That's what you'd be getting for your Bluesy, which you love. Not a good deal, really.

2 respected replies confirming what I think. Looks like the collection is going to increase or the explorer walks.

I wouldn't, like Adam said you can get a great looking GMT Pepsi for under 6k box and papers included.

Have to agree and lets be honest there are thousands if not a million of 16710 in this world no matter the insert, as inserts are easy to change TO PEPSI/COKE or Black and cost around $75.

I think a 16613 is worth a bit more than a 16710 from the same era. I'd keep the Sub and save up for a nice GMT. Then you will have two classics.

Also, unless the jeweler is a friend, he's a businessman who doesn't do a swap unless there's some upside. This tells me he believes the Sub is worth more also.

When you are working with a Dealer you need to decide if the deal is the one you want. A Dealer is in it for business, not because he likes your watch.

A 16613 is worth more than a 16710 for that era. However, it's like any "purchase" where you are trading in. You have to know that you will not get top-dollar for the trade-in. Maybe the Dealer can sweeten the pot a little more..

Any deal involving a jeweler will benefit the jeweler, they aren't in business to do favors. If you like the deal for convenience sake I can almost understand it but honestly you are just handing over your $1,000-$1,500 equity to get a piece that isn't rare or hard to source. I wouldn't do it either, not that you need someone else telling you "NO"

I have to agree with the esteemed forum colleagues above. Not a good deal. I am however always in favor of increasing your collection. I'm sure the jeweler didn't pay more than $3500 for the watch. See what he'll come down to for cash.
