Extra Lume/Dust on Minute Hand?

Noticed "something" on the middle of the minute hand - an extra bit of lume or a spec of dust? Either way, I'm sure I could take it up to RSC NY and have them either swap out hands or clean it off. But what say you all? Is this super simple where I could just take it to the AD where I purchased it and their watchmaker could do it?

Is it even worth worrying about? Is this common?

I think I see what you describe, it looks like a white dot. I'm pretty tolerant of minor blemishes, but that's pretty noticeable...If it was my watch, I would have it rectified. I would think an AD could do it, but they may charge you for the work, unless you bought the watch from them.

Sure take it in. Or maybe turn it face down and rapping the back sharply with your fingertip will dislodge it.

I travel to the States quite often. In fact, I'm here more than in the UK.

Looked at the pic of the watch when I first got it in my incoming thread...

... and I don't see it.

Any more thoughts?

Right. I mean, the easy answer is to just take it to RSC NY and get a new hand put on. My only fear is that I haven't ever had a watch serviced; I've either flipped them all before that time came, or it hasn't needed it yet (like on my Speedy Pro). It's keeping +1/2 second/day time, and I don't want that to be messed up if I have someone remove the movement to put on a new hand.

i would say leave it alone. rsc may solve the hand minor issue but they may leave some extra scratches on you watch external. i had my 16710 since 2006 and look at the round lume on the second hand? i left it alone.

Personally I would also leave it alone. As it doesn't seem to me in the original pics my guess it is a tiny spec of dust and may move again. It wouldn't bother me and I would leave it. I never and I mean never look at my watches under a loupe or close up though

It's your call. I have had this happen and once you see it - that's all you see! Then again, not everyone is as OCD. If it wasn't inconvenient I'd drop by. The AD or RSC but if not it is not a major issue,

Will getting it solved - i.e. taken to RSC, movement taken out, hands off, new ones back one, etc. - do anything to the watch, it's accuracy, case, etc.?

accuracy most likely same. case scratches quite possible depending on the person handling the watch. my experience with the rsc here is 95% with scratches.

I'd leave it. In all likelihood, it will come back with something worst.

It adds character to your watch

At least its not a fleck of dust on the dial or on the undersurface of the crystal!

That would drive me crazy. YMMV.

Since the watch is under warranty, I'd take it back.

The chances of RSC screwing it up are really overblown IMO.

The only thing I really care about getting screwed up is the movement. No, I mean, I don't want any deep gauges on the watch. But, if there are a hairline scratch or two on the PCL, or clasp, I do not care.

From your photo it looks like lume; look at it under a loop to see if it is securely attached; if so it won't likely get into your mechanism. If not I'd get it to RSC for repair. If so it is a call of how long you can live with it. I do think that if it bothers you it's better to have it taken care of under warranty or you'll either have to pay for it or live with it.

PS. Since your original pictures didn't show it then it is free floating; I'd get it taken care of.

Great advice. I'm not certain that it's free floating. it looks like a crack in the lume, personally.

Hmm yeah I see. Get it fixed as others have said above. For the price we pay for Rolex it should be perfect. Good luck.

I think it's fine; my dad has a YG GMTC II and it is the exact same. Ditto with my brother's SubC.
