Tudor 79280 Question
Hi Folks,
I recently picked up a watch on a whim and I'm curious what I ended up with. I was thinking that I was looking at a Tudor 79180 chronograph. I'll describe why. The watch face notes the watch as an Oysterdate, the case back is Rolex, the crown is Rolex and the bracelet is Rolex. However, upon closer inspection, the paperwork shows the model as a 79280. I was under the impression that the 79280 was marked as Prince Date and was without the Rolex case. Any thoughts on what this may be? Or was there a transition period where the 79280 was made and looked exactly like the 79180? A couple of pictures are included here. Sorry for the quality, I'm not so good at taking watch pictures. Thanks for your help. |

Have you tried taking the bracelet off and looking at the model number between the lugs?

What he said above and:
One should also be able to tell by the shape of the watch looking at it from the side. Prince Dates are usually "softer" shaped, more elegant and more similar to a Daytona (but still a little thinker than a Daytona due to the date function). |
