Keep? Or Put $ Towards the Next Rolex

I posted this on another part of the forum, but would love to get this boards' opinion too.

I picked it up super cheap through a JomaDeals 24 hour promotion (about $1200).

There is a lot to like about it. Breguet hands, sunburst date dial, guilloche dial around the hands, in-house movement, etc.

I've thought about a leather strapped watch for awhile, but I don't want to pay a "big" number since I feel like if I'm going to drop "big" money on a watch, I want it to have a bracelet.

Here are my concerns:

- Would I wear it enough to justify the price (after all, with two Rolexes, it's hard to take them off my wrist at all)?

- Should I return it and just add that money to the watch fund for a future watch?

- I love the design of it, but I feel like it kind of lacks "charm;" maybe because it looks almost like a blatant rip-off of a Breguet watch.

So what's the verdict? Keep, as it is a completely different watch with lots of pros, or return and put the money towards the next Rolex?

I currently have a white dial Daytona, and a SS DJII with the grey/black dial, fluted bezel, and roman numerals (but I am strongly considering flipping that for a 116710).

Love the new watch and your price was excellent for the manufactures movement. I say keep it.

Not a fan of the "huge dress watch" look. I'd send it back. It's only a good deal if you use it.

Keep the $ and go for the next rolex.

The brand FC is very far off from Rolex. After awhile, the feeling that it is not "good enough" in terms of brand and prestige will starts to sink in. You will go back to your rolexes, trust me.

If it has been an AP or JLC or Patek, it will probably be a harder choice. But FC? Come on......it is an obvious choice that you should just keep the $ and go for the rolex

Agree x 100

Return as soon as possible and use the money towards another ROLEX.

I cannot answer your questions.

It sounds like you have doubt about the watch.

Every time I have done this, I have lost money trying to get something I really want. I hope I am done making these types of decisions.

Return it. You won't wear it simply because you have moved on to higher watches. Been there, done that.

I agree. Once you have a nice watch, it's hard to wear something significantly cheaper unless it's a real beater like a G Shock. FC makes good looking watches, I must admit, but I'd return it and save up for something really nice.

Honestly, when I start doubting any watch, it just mean I don't love it anymore.

Send it back before it's too late, my friend.

And it looks kinda big, how big is it? 42mm?

Right on the money, Sam; it is 42mm.

I think the majority of this board is right. I can just see this sitting in the watch box and delaying the purchase of my next "nice" watch.

I'm pretty sure what I really want to a nice Breguet brand watch. I just looked up the prices of a few models I like, and returning this will get me about 10% of the way towards one of those!

Thank you, TRF. I love this place!

Good decision, JJ, I think if you are going to buy this instead of the Rolex as the opportunity cost is thus so high you have to truly love the other piece, which you clearly don't. Get another Rolex instead and maybe down the line trade up to the Breguet, which you also clearly really desire.

It's very pretty, but from what I understand a dress watch should be smaller/thinner.

If it doesn't sing to you then return it. Not particularly fond of that model IMHO.

Why would you even contemplate an FC when you have experienced brands such as Rolex

Since you're already questioning the wisdom of your purchase I think you know the right answer: send it back. But, I own a similarly-styled Breguet Marine (on a Breguet black alligator leather strap) that I love and wear more frequently than either of my Rolex watches. I also love my Rolex watches but my Breguet seems to suit every occasion while receiving no unwanted attention.

Thanks, Leem. I just found the Breguet Marine yesterday, and I really want one. I think one of those will be my third watch.

I am returning this watch, thank you to my TRF friends who talked some sense into me; returning this gets me just over 10% towards that Breguet!

Buying a watch just because the price is right hardly ever works out, in terms of getting a "keeper"....
