how do I set a quick date adjustment when starting a dead watch?

just curious, is there another way rather than pop the crown to third position and rotate the crown until it hits the right time and date? vs a quick date adjustment at position 2 (which mean there is possibility that the GMT hand may not in sync with the actual hour hand)?

I have the explorer 2 watch.

thanks.

Not sure I understand the problem. You can use position two to quick set the date and set the hour hand in synch with the 24 hour hand. The only reason it wouldn't be in synch with the 24 hour hand is if you don't set it that way.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you.

i own several automatic when setting dates from a dead watch, all you need to do is go to second position, change the dates, then once the date is set, then go to third position to change the time. so you do not have to do many crown rotation.

in rolex, i am curious if there is a way to do that. for example, if todays date is 1, then your dead watch is 16, then you have to rotate the hour hand 15 times to get to date 1 on second position. not so convenient.

Now I get the question. The answer is no.

OK, I get you now.

So you have other makes of GMT watches that when they are not running position two quick sets the date like a Sub? Do those same watches have a jump hour hand in position two that just doesn't function when the watch is stopped but becomes functional when the watch is running?

This is why i might flip my 16710 for a 16700. Quickset date is so convenient. The 3186 is slightly more convenient with more hour hand turns per crown turn, but not a whole lot.
