Versatile Automatic under $500
Hey guys, just wondering what everybody thinks is the best watch for the money and if you have any opinions or suggestions. My requirements are:
-Must be under $500 (at or slightly 500 over is fine too) -Must be automatic (or manually wound with a power reserve indicator, but no quartz) -I'm not looking for another diver, as I have three of them already. Just a casual watch that would work well in every situation. Nothing too dressy but nothing too sporty either~ Currently I'm considering these watches: The front runner is this one, the Tissot PRS 516, roughly $450 off of Amazon The Tissot T-Trend Couterier, A little more dressy but still a great looking watch. About the same price as the watch above. And finally this, the Hamilton Khaki automatic. Looks great and is roughly $50 less than the other two. All comments and suggestions are welcome |

Of the three my choice would be the Hamilton. I also like seiko at this price point.

I owned that Hamilton but it was on a bracelet. Great watch. It had a display back too. You get a lot for your money with it

Something from the seiko sarb line would blow away all three options above. There is no comparison in terms of overall quality, fit, and finish. IMO the sarb line is the best value for the dollar of all watches currently produced.
If you have to go with one of the above... Hamilton has it. I've handled the something from the PRS line (or something similar). Honestly it should be a POS. It's cheap, has a terrible braclet and clasp, and has a wannabe diver look to it. |

Check out the Hamilton Jazzmaster line. Lots of different dial/strap/bracelet configurations and a great value.

If you can find them, a Marathon Diver is a good option. The MSRP is over $500 but you will see them discounted often.

I have the Hamilton Khaki and I have given two as gifts. The most popular one is about 40-42mm, as I recall. If a person has a small wrist, go for the Khaki King with the day on top for a 38mm watch.
They look great and run great. The brown leather , white stitched band gives it a mini-Panerai look. Big recommendation. I think the Jazzmasters are more formal and more expensive. |
